Amazon India to open first-ever floating store in Dal Lake

Amazon India has introduced its first-ever floating store on Dal Lake, Srinagar in Kashmir. This is a part of Amazon India’s initiative to reinforce its commitment to rendering reliable deliveries and supporting small businesses for profitable opportunities. The store is an outcome of the company's 'I Have Space' program initiated in 2015, aimed at enabling local stores and partners to deliver packages to distant areas. The floating store addresses the needs of customers around Dal Lake and Nigeen Lake, which are bustling with tourists and locals. Amazon India's last-mile delivery program, 'I Have Space' empowers local stores for efficient product delivery within a 2 to 4 kilometers radius of their stores providing them an income avenue. Currently, the program comprises a vast network of 28,000+ neighbourhood and kirana partners throughout nearly 420 towns and cities in India. These local businesses manage around 20 to 30 packages daily, receiving a fixed fee and often functioning as a pickup point, enhancing their involvement and contribution in the community.
