Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS)

Southern Railway aims to uplift the facilities in 90 of its stations via the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS). Each of the six divisions has selected 15 stations to develop equitably across the region. The project has undergone master planning and awarded tenders for 35 stations under phase I. While the remainder is in its final tendering stages, the initial phase emphasizes on Chennai, Salem, Tiruchirapalli, and Madurai Divisions in Tamil Nadu. Notably, stations in Chennai will undergo major improvements with an allocated fund of Rs. 251.97 crore from the total Rs. 934 crore project fund.
