‘Amrit Brikshya Andolan’ app

Assam government has declared a significant initiative called 'Amrit Brikshya Andolan' under which Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma aims to plant 1 crore saplings in a single day. The initiative is expected to enhance the state's forest cover and combat climate change. Approximately 40 lakh women from self-help groups will play a major role by planting two saplings each, while the remaining participants will include people from various occupations. To encourage participation, the government will provide saplings and distribute a reward of Rs 100 to each individual who registers with the ‘Amrit Brikshya Andolan’ app and plants a sapling. Future targets include planting 5 crore saplings by 2025.
