Asian Chess Federation confers D Gukesh with "Player of the Year award"

Indian Grandmaster D Gukesh has been awarded the Player-of-the-Year by the Asian Chess Federation (ACF) after winning the gold medal at the 44th Chess Olympiad at Mahabalipuram with a historic score of 9/11. Gukesh is the youngest and sixth Indian Grandmaster to cross the 2700 Elo-rating mark. The All India Chess Federation (AICF) received the 'Most Active Federation' award at the ACF's annual summit. Tamil Nadu's Chief Minister M K Stalin was awarded the Man-of-the-Year for his efforts in successfully hosting the FIDE Chess Olympiad in a span of four months. The Indian women's team garnered the ‘Best Women’s Team of the Year’ award for its bronze-winning performance. Grandmaster R B Ramesh and Grandmaster Abhijit Kunte respectively received the men's and women's Coach-of-the-Year awards.
