GoI notifies establishment of National Turmeric Board

The Indian Union Government has commenced the establishment of the National Turmeric Board. Major turmeric cultivating regions like Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Karnataka, MP, Odisha, Bengal, and Gujarat will benefit from this. As the world's largest turmeric producer, consumer, and exporter, India enjoys a 62% share in the global market. Anticipating a boost in turmeric exports, the board aims to clock in ` one billion by 2030. Centred around exports, R&D, product development, quality, and food safety standards, the board will foster the overall development of the turmeric industry. The board's composition includes a Chairperson and members from government departments, representatives from the turmeric industry, and a Secretary appointed by the Department of Commerce.
