Health Index Report of Covid Year: Kerala and Tamil Nadu Top Performers

The southern states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana are the top-performing larger states in NITI Aayog's Annual Health Index for 2020-2021. The rankings are based on 24 health indicators, evaluated annually since 2017 in collaboration with the Union Health Ministry and the World Bank. The states are categorized and their performances evaluated based on year-on-year progress and overall performance. Notably, the bottom three performers among the larger states were Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. On the other hand, Tripura emerged as a top-ranking smaller state, while Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, and Odisha showed the most improvement. Among the Union Territories, Lakshadweep was the top performer, with Delhi landing the lowest rank.
