Minister Of Ports, Shipping and Waterways Launches 'Harit Sagar' Green Park Guidelines 2023

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping & Waterways has introduced 'Harit Sagar' Green Port Guidelines 2023 toward its vision of zero carbon emissions. Launched by Union Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, the guidelines seek to mitigate the impact on harbor ecosystems and promote the use of clean energy. This includes cleaner fuels such as green hydrogen, green ammonia, and green methanol/ethanol. The guidelines also enable ports to monitor their environmental performance indicators and adhere to the Green Reporting Initiative (GRI) standards. In addition, they empower ports to outline an action plan for carbon emission reduction. 'Sagar Shreshtha Samman' awards were conveyed to major ports for exceptional performance.
