Norway To Support India’s ‘Hunger Project’ In Uttarakhand

Norway is supporting India’s ‘Hunger Project’ in Uttarakhand with a budget of ₹44.7 million for three years until September 2026, aiming to empower women leaders, improve food security, and safeguard the environment. The project emphasizes the enrichment of elected women representatives' skills and strengthening local governance, which can boost food security and livelihood for marginalized households in Uttarakhand. The initiative will be implemented in three districts, nine blocks, 172 gram panchayats, and 145 van panchayats involving 900 elected women representatives. The Hunger Project also intends to raise climate change awareness through 334 Jagrukh Manchs and aims to combat the climate crisis in the region, which aligns with the Uttarakhand government’s dedication to sustainable development.
