Onam 2023

Onam, a significant cultural festival in Kerala, is set to take place from August 20 to August 31 in 2023. The ten-day celebration, also known as Thiru-Onam or Thiruvonam, honors the return of the revered King Mahabali, symbolizing Kerala's rich cultural heritage. The festival includes rituals like decorating with 'pookkalam’ floral designs, wearing new clothes called 'Onakkodi', preparing a grand feast named 'Onam Sadya', and boat racing event 'Vallamkali'. During the ten days, different rituals and festivities are performed, including Thiruvonam, which marks the end with a grand feast. The festival signifies the commencement of the Malayalam year, celebrates unity and peace, and is marked as Tourism week in Kerala.
