Rajasthan government gives free smartphones to women

The Rajasthan government, under Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, has initiated the "Indira Gandhi Free Smartphone Yojana 2023" to provide free mobile phones, internet, and voice call services to women residing in the state. The scheme targets primarily widows and divorced women, with the distribution period being from August 10 to August 30, 2023. The application for eligibility requires the candidate to be a resident of Rajasthan, belong to a Chiranjeevi family, have an annual family income below 2.5 lakhs and not have any family members in government service. The recipients can be schoolgirls from grade 9 to 12, college girls, widows, single women, or those who have completed a certain number of days under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee.

IMPORTANT POINTS TO REMEMBER

  1. Female students in grades 9-12 in government schools and those in government higher education colleges are eligible for the free smartphone scheme.
  2. To apply, visit the official website rajasthan.gov.in, find the registration option and enter the required information, including an Aadhar card number.
  3. The annual family income should not exceed 2.5 lakhs, and family members should not be in government employment.
